Morphological characteristics of Yu Zhu
The rhizome of Yu Zhu is cylindrical, 5-14 mm in diameter. Stems 20-50 cm tall, with 7-12 leaves. Leaves alternate, elliptic to ovate-tortuous, 5-12 cm long, 3-16 cm wide, pointed at the apex, grayish white below, smooth to papillose-scabrous on the veins below.
Inflorescence of Yuzhu with 1-4 flowers (up to 8 in cultivation), total pedicel (pedicel when single-flowered) 1-1.5 cm long, ebracteate or with lanceolate bracts; perianth yellowish green to white, 13-20 mm long throughout, perianth tube straighter, lobes ca. 3-4 mm long; filaments filiform, nearly smooth to papillate, anthers ca. 4 mm long; ovary 3-4 mm long. Style 10-14 mm long. Berries blue-black, 7-10 mm in diameter, with 7-9 seeds.
Growth environment of Yu Zhu
Yu Zhu is highly adaptable to environmental conditions and does not require strict soil conditions, but flooded, saline, clay, sand, and gravel land types are not suitable for growth. The general temperature is 10-15℃ when the rootstock emerges, 20-22℃ when it blooms, and 22-25℃ when the underground root grows and thickens. Yucca is suitable for growing in moist, deep, loose soil. It can be planted in the understory of gentle mountain slopes and low hills. Jade bamboo is hardy and does not tolerate strong direct light. It is often found in the forest understory or on shady mountain slopes, at 500-3000 meters above sea level.
How to reproduce Yu Zhu?
Yu Zhu is generally propagated by sowing seeds. The ground is prepared before sowing, and the ground is raked into small furrows 5 cm deep and 3 cm wide, and the sowing spacing is 2-3 cm. Yucca seeds in late August to early September to maturity, after harvesting the best fall sowing, seeds do not need to be stored, sowing time in late October to early November, and sowing volume is generally 10-15 kg per mu. If the seeds are sown from late March to early April, about 8 kg of dry seeds per acre are needed and soaked in water for 24 hours. Yucca does not produce seedlings in the year of planting, only small roots grow underground, and seedlings only appear in April of the second year.

Land selection and preparation
Yu Zhu is highly resistant and widely adaptable, and the requirements for planting land are not demanding, but the standardization and standardization of production must be limited to certain standard conditions. The specific requirements are: mountainous land, open forest land, orchard, and farmland can be planted. Soil quality should be selected yellow sand humus, black sand humus, or sandy loam, with the thickness of the soil layer ≥ 25 cm. The organic matter content of farmland is≥ 1.2%, mountain, open forest land, and orchard organic matter content (the same as below) is≥ 3.5%, and soil pH is 5.5-7.0. 120.0 mg/kg of alkaline nitrogen, effective 12.0 mg/kg, fast-acting potassium > 60.0 mg/kg, other planting sites alkaline nitrogen > 130.0 mg/kg, effective phosphorus > 5.0 mg/kg, fast-acting potassium >55.0 mg/kg. Terrain requirements slope ≤ 20 ° slope direction to half shade and the half sun is preferred, the terrain topography should be selected to facilitate drainage and irrigation prevail. Open forest land is broad-leaved or mixed forest, and orchards are preferable for large woody trees.
Planting techniques
Yuzhu can be planted in spring, summer, and autumn, but the best planting period is in autumn before the last freeze. The planting method is divided into strip planting and hole planting, with a trench or hole depth of 8-10 cm, a mulch thickness of about 4 cm, a strip planting spacing of 15 cm, and a row spacing of 30 cm; hole planting according to the hole row spacing of 30 (-40) cm × 30 (-40) cm, the hole and hole should be staggered, each hole placed 3-4 seed plants. Strip planting is used on agricultural land, and strip planting or hole planting is on mountainous land, sparse forest land, and orchards.
Field management
Weeding
After planting out the seedlings in agricultural land, weeding should be done shallowly in mid-tillage and not in mid-tillage every year thereafter. Adopt chemical weeding mu with 96% ipecac 90ml + 15% thiensulfuron 10g to 20kg of water, and carry out bed closure treatment in spring before seedlings emerge.
Fertilizer
The annual chase 2 times, farmland land in spring before the emergence of mu splash about 1000 kg of well-rotted human manure and urine liquid, autumn mu cover about 1000 kg of organic fertilizer. Other types of planting sites depending on the conditions of producers choose whether to chase fertilizer.
Harvesting technology
Harvesting is done by mechanical and manual digging in the autumn season. First of all, you need to cut the stalks and then start digging the roots, pay attention to the digging depth, too shallow easily hurt the rhizome, appear broken root breakage phenomenon, and affects the quality of the yucca, digging depth should be controlled at about 25 cm. Using mechanical digging should pay attention to turning the soil in one direction to reverse the stubble, which is conducive to the fleshy roots of yucca not being buried by the digging soil, and conducive to exposing the fleshy rhizome of yucca to facilitate picking.
